by integrating theses 3 simple steps into your daily life…
Hello beauties and a
very Happy New Year to you all!
How’s 2020 going for you so far? Did you make resolutions at all this year? Do
you find they usually last?
‘Old habits die hard’ as the saying goes. We all know how challenging it can be
to make real, lasting change in our lives. So why is it that when we start out
with so much determination that ‘this is going to be the year’ when we succeed
at making the changes we need to live our lives fully, that it just doesn’t
happen? We don’t follow through for some reason or another, ‘life gets in the
way’ and our dreams and goals flow down the drain. Another year just drifts on
by.
I believe that mostly it’s about not giving ourselves enough space and time to
know what we need, coupled with too little self-love (and discipline) to follow
through when we do.
I’m not talking about hours a day spent in meditation on a mountaintop
(although that might be nice;-) nor about the discipline of not overindulging,
going to the gym or whatever other promises you’ve made to yourself. I’m
talking about the real self-care of taking enough quiet moments in your day to
breathe, check in with yourself, acknowledge what you need in every moment and
to take care of those needs. True self-care does takes discipline but it
doesn’t have to be hard, it just has to be consistent.
The time we allow for tuning into ourselves means that we don’t lose track of
what’s dear to us, we don’t lose our connection with who we are at the deepest
level or with what’s important to us in our lives. Even if ‘life gets in the
way’, (and I know it’s even harder with for those of you with kids) yet we
still take regular moments to check in with ourselves, we won’t lose sight of
our priorities, of where we want to go and what we want to achieve. It’s all
possible but it starts within ❤️.
so 3 easy peasy things to get you started
- take 5 mins, 3 times a day to be alone and silent. Ask yourself, (out loud if possible) ‘how are you feeling right now (insert your name)?’ Listen for the response. Acknowledge it by saying it to yourself ‘I’m feeling _________ right now.’
- Next ask yourself ‘What do you need right now (insert your name)?’ Again, listen for the response. Acknowledge it by saying to yourself (again, out loud if possible), ‘I need _______ right now.’
- Find a way to give yourself what you need, even if it’s just a small step. Say you’re feeling ‘anxious’ and you need some ‘space’ (and maybe you’re at work or around others and feel unable to get away). Just excuse yourself, pop outside for a few moments for some fresh air, take a bathroom break or just open a window and simply breathe. You’ll feel the difference right away.
These three easy steps will get you started on a
self-care relationship with yours truly and who knows it could become the love
affair of a lifetime :-D. But seriously, try it, me-time isn’t selfish, in fact
the more you practice these steps, the more self-aware you’ll become as well as
more aware of and sensitive to the needs of others, so its a win-win for
everyone. What are you waiting for? Take 5 minutes (or just 3) and give it a
try…
And if you can’t imagine yourself even finding the time to try this exercise,
you probably need my ‘Detoxify Your Life’ programme! Designed to help you clear away anything you no
longer want in your life (like toxins! bad relationships, clutter, basically
anything that isn’t good for you and is taking up your resources and precious
time on this planet) and to make more space for you!
I’d love to know how this exercise goes for you, what
you took from it and what you found challenging too, so please drop me a line and let me know.
